Moolarben Coal – Slurryflex CLX Hose for Severe Slurry in Feed Lines
Trialling ceramic-lined mining hose in the wash plant is paying off for the maintenance team at Moolarben Coal.
At the start of this year, the maintenance supervisor gave us a call looking for a better option in the feed lines than fast-wearing HDPE. The lines were lasting less than three months before the maintenance crew had to replace them, taking up valuable time during shutdowns.
We helped them choose a liner that could withstand the very sharp, high-pressure coal slurry. They decided to replace the line with Slurryflex CLX mining hose, which has ceramic tiles hot vulcanised into the rubber for severe wear applications.
The new severe wear ceramic hose was installed six months ago and has already outlasted the old HDPE piping. Based on experience in other high-wear processing plants, we’re confident that it will last more than 8x longer.
For the maintenance team, it’s one less job to manage during shutdown, so they’re happy to be up and running quicker.
