When planning a new 4km tailings pipeline, the Talison Lithium project team knew they needed flexibility.

It’s critical because rigid pipework must withstand thermal expansion, slurry pump vibration and changes in direction, bends or elevation.

They needed a set and forget option that could withstand higher pressures (up to 5000kPa), shock, vibration, and bending and flexing around dam contours and elevation. Specifying mining hose for a long overland tailings run like this comes down to matching wall construction and reinforcement to the working pressure, not just the bore — get that wrong and it’s premature failure on a pipeline that’s costly and disruptive to take offline for repairs.
